This is my first time attending a competition for robots. Actually I bought one (not the same model) 3 years ago from a magazine but now I just put it in my cabinet for displays - it can not be upgraded anymore.

I like robots since I know the Transformers cartoon around 1984 - 85. It was one of my favorite cartoons. And when it is being made into a real action movie - I like it even more. Optimus Prime is my favorite character - cool yet very scrupulous with great leadership ability. I remember his tag line "Autobots... roll out!” Huh huh... Awesome!!

Hm.. Sorry, let’s go back to the original story. The robotics competition was held in Dewan Tun Ahamad Shah, SM Teknik Tawau on 05 - 06 May 2009. I only manage to go there on the second day. The day before was the competition for primary school - got no information on it. Well, on the second day was the competition for the secondary school. There are two categories for the secondary level – First: Robot Planting (Lower Secondary) and Second: Robot Energizing (Upper Secondary). I don’t really know the difference because the robots look the same to me.

Teknik Tawau got "kilar" or in the other words got nothing at this time around. As host to this competition, we should bag at least 1 silver medal and book a place to the other level. The advantage is there – playing on our home ground but what to say… I think they were a little bit nervous as it is their first time competing. Better luck next time! We can do it! Here is the picture of some of the Teknik Tawau players for the competition.

I manage to peak out the results as it being announce. It was a smashing result. Look at these final standings after the competition.

Category: Robot Planting
1st Place: SM St Patrick with 800.00 points
2nd Place: SMK Agama Tun Sakaran with 660.47 points
3rd Place: SMK Tagasan with 570.00 points

Category: Robot Energizing
1st Place: SMK Agama Tun Sakaran with 523.87 points
2nd Place: SMK Kinabutan with 347.93 points
3rd Place: SM St Patrick with 163.37 points

Cik Suhaila Subi, one of the Robotics teacher said that the 1st and 2nd winner will represent Zon Tenggara to the State Level Competition at SJK(c) Chung Hwa Likas, Kota Kinabalu on 25 May 2009 (in 2 weeks time).

You can access some of the highlights in Pahaikan’s Album. Until the next robots competition, see ya.

Bloggers… Roll Out!!! Huh awesome!! Hehehe…
